TAMPA -- A man claims that his wife died because of negligence by a doctor.

David Martin, as personal representative of the Estate of Denise Martin, deceased, filed a complaint on June 4 in Hillsborough County Circuit Court against Saleemuddin I. Saiyad, M.D., Care Cardiology and Vein Center, LLC, West Florida - MHT, INC. for negligence and vicarious liability.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 14, 2020, Denise Martin was admitted into Memorial Hospital of Tampa, was diagnosed with myocardial infarction and underwent a cardiac catheterization performed by Saleemuddin I. Saiyad, M.D.

David Martin alleges that at no time were him or his wife given the option of another cardiologist. On Nov. 19, 2020, Denise was released from the hospital and given a beta-blocker of 3.125 mg of Coreg, the suit says.

David alleged that Dr. Saiyad did not treat or increase the medication during his wife's stay at the hospital, and the doctor, upon leaving did not give instruction or increase the medication. David alleges that because of this, Denise's heart was not adequately protected from the possibility of a rupture.

On Nov. 21, 2020, Denise was taken to Tampa General Hospital for left chest pains and the EKG showed another myocardial infarction. Denise was being taken back to the trauma bay when she suffered a heart attack and died. An autopsy showed her heart had ruptured, the suit says.

David Martin seeks compensatory damages and costs. David Martin is represented by G. William Lazenby, IV. or Morgan and Morgan Tampa, P.A.
