Woman sues for injuries on Universal's Harry Potter ride

ORLANDO — A woman who suffered serious injuries on Universal Studio's Harry Potter ride is claiming the theme park's negligence.

Trina Bynum filed a complaint April 30 in Orange County Circuit Court against Universal City Development Partners LTD doing business as Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure alleging negligence.

Bynum alleges in her complaint that she was at Universal's Islands of Adventure on May 5, 2017. She claims that while riding the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride, the ride suddenly and without warning came to "one or more abrupt and unsafe stops" and caused her to suffer serious injuries.

Bynum alleges that as a result of her injuries, she required hospitalization and nursing care and aggravated a pre-existing condition. Bynum further claims Universal failed to train or supervise its workers who were operating the ride or warn of the dangerous conditions.

Bynum seeks monetary relief of more than $30,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief.  She is represented by Stephen Barnes and Christopher Donegan of The Barnes Trial Group in Tampa.
