TAMPA - The estate of a deceased Hillsborough County woman brought civil charges against the owner of the Stone Ledge Manor nursing home in Thonotosassa for allegedly neglecting the woman's health leading to her death.

According to documents filed on March 24 in the Hillsborough County Circuit Court, defendant Venice Gardens LLC owns the nursing home that decedent Ann Williamson was admitted to in May of 2020. Plaintiff Atoya Williamson, the decedent's daughter, accuses the facility's medical staff of neglecting the decedent's health.

According to the suit, the facility did not keep complete or consistent medical charts on the decedent, and all of its staff failed to notice signs in the woman's condition that indicated medical distress.

While at the facility, the decedent entered kidney failure and required hospitalization; the kidney failure ultimately caused the decedent's death.

The defendant is sued for the decedent's medical, funeral and burial expenses, as well as loss of companionship and mental suffering. The plaintiff is represented by Beltz and Beltz PA of St. Petersburg.
