TAMPA - Contrary to the business' name, not everyone has fun at the Brandon Astro Skate Family Fun Center, which faces charges in the Hillsborough County Circuit Court from a man who says he was injured after being given defective roller skates.

According to documents filed on March 26, plaintiff Chad Curry hosted a birthday party for his son at the skating rink on January 4, 2020. Curry rented a pair of shoes to skate, and when he began to use them, he noticed the wheels were unusually loose, the suit says.

Curry says he attempted to get to a rink exit so he could return the defective shoes, but the loose wheels caused him to fall and become injured before he could get off the rink.

The plaintiff brings the roller rink to the circuit court for jury trial to determine the damages he's entitled to for his injuries. Curry is represented by the Jodat Law Group PA of Sarasota.
