TAMPA - A Lutz woman sued St. Joseph's Hospital North and multiple other defendants after alleged medical negligence caused amputations to both her legs.
According to documents filed on March 18 in the Hillsborough County Superior Court, plaintiff Julie Aldridge's attempts to get the pain in her right leg treated began with visiting the St. Joseph's Hospital North Emergency Department in January 2019. In the ED, she was seen by defendants Natalie J. Brooks APRN and Dr. Timothy J. Balling.
Aldridge says that Brooks and Balling both failed to recognize the emergent circumstance of her symptoms and did not perform the proper examinations and tests to recognize the true nature of her condition.
About a week after her ED visit, Aldridge saw her primary care physician, defendant Dr. Raymond Petrus at the defendant TGMG Carrollwood Clinic. Aldridge accuses Petrus of also failing to recognize and act upon the urgency of her symptoms.
Aldridge visited the Vein and Vascular Institute almost a month after her initial ED visit, where it was determined that she needed to undergo multiple amputations to both legs for blood clots, the suit claims.
The defendants are charged with medical malpractice and vicarious liability. Aldridge is represented by Catania and Catania PA of Tampa.
