TAMPA - The owner of the land that The Break Room on Gunn Highway in Tampa sits on faces a personal injury lawsuit after a man was shot in the bar restaurant's parking lot, according to documents filed on March 16 in the Hillsborough County Circuit Court.

Plaintiff Huey Bennett was at the establishment on June 15, 2017. He alleges that the defendant Gator Gunn Tampa LLC, owner of the property and several adjoining properties, has been negligent in security of the area with inadequate parking lot lighting, lack of security personnel and no video surveillance, creating a history of frequent fighting and gunshots on the premises.

While in The Break Room's parking lot, Bennett was shot three times by an unknown individual, causing serious injuries, the suit says.

The defendant is charged with negligence for the incident. Bennett is represented by the Baird Law Group of Tampa.
