TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Office of the Attorney General is accused of violating the Florida Whistleblower Act by a former employee, according to documents filed on March 16 in the Leon County Circuit Court.

Plaintiff Victoria J. Freeman is a black woman and former paralegal specialist for the defendant. She says that she was treated differently because of her race by multiple superiors, who are all white. Freeman accuses the AG's office of holding white employees to a lower productivity and conduct standard, including allowing excessive cell phone use, imbalanced tardiness leniency and theft of company time.

The plaintiff says that the unfair treatment by the defendant escalated when she attempted to report the discrimination, and she was ultimately terminated in retaliation to her voicing her concerns.

The AG's office is charged with race discrimination and retaliation. Freeman demands a trial by jury and is represented by Marie A. Mattox PA of Tallahassee.
