TAMPA - The Tampa Bay Downs race track and sports complex faces a personal injury lawsuit, according to documents filed Feb. 17 in the Hillsborough County Circuit Court.

Plaintiff Jane Horton, of Pinellas County, visited Tampa Bay downs on Feb. 7 of this year, when she attempted to sit on a chair that was unknowingly broken, the suit says.

Upon sitting, loose screws in the chair dislodged, causing the chair to fall apart, the suit says. In the accident, Horton says her left pointer finger was sliced off.

Horton's complaint of negligence against Tampa Bay Downs seeks damages in excess of $30,000 plus litigation fees for her medical expenses, loss of wage and mental and physical suffering.

The plaintiff is represented by Morgan and Morgan Tampa, PA.
