TAMPA - An Odessa woman is suing the owners of the Waterchase basketball courts in Tampa after her son was injured in an unsupervised basketball game, according to documents filed Feb. 12 in the Hillsborough County Circuit Court.

The lawsuit says that Jackson Schmitzer, minor son of Amy Schmizter, was lawfully at the court playing basketball with others on Nov. 6, 2020, when he was kicked in the leg by another player, sustaining a bone fracture.

The plaintiff is suing the Waterchase Master Property Owners Association, Inc. for negligence that included failing to ensure the safety of people using the court and properly supervise and control the games that take place.

Schmitzer is demanding trial by jury and judgement for her son's medical expenses, trauma and loss of life in an amount that exceeds $30,000.

The plaintiff is represented by the Pawlowski/Mastrilli Law Group, of Tampa.
