Freidin Brown, P.A. issued the following announcement on May 24.
Part 1: National Institute for Trial Advocacy Board of Trustees Elects New Members
The Board of Trustees of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) introduced its new chair and elected three new members at the Board’s annual meeting, held at the organization’s headquarters in Boulder, Colorado, on April 25–26. Judge George C. Hanks, Jr. of Houston, Daniel M. Kotin of Chicago, and Freidin Brown, P.A.’s Whitney M. Untiedt were elected to the Board of Trustees during the April meeting, prompting Chair Rubinowitz to comment:
For decades, NITA has been the premiere organization for teaching advocacy skills to trial lawyers. Its superb staff and dedicated faculty continually devote their time, energy and talent to provide this training throughout the world. We are delighted to welcome Judge Hanks, Dan Kotin, and Whitney Untiedt to the NITA Board of Trustees. We are humbled and honored by their willingness to serve, and we are delighted to welcome them.
Trustee-Elect Whitney M. Untiedt leads the national Whistleblower and Qui Tam practice at Freidin Brown, P.A., where she also handles medical malpractice and complex personal injury cases. The new Trustees will serve three-year terms that begin on January 1, 2020, and expire on December 31, 2022.
Part 2: NITA Announces Co-Program Directors: Jayme Cassidy and Whitney Untiedt, “Building Trial Skills: Florida” in March 2020
NITA is proud to announce Jayme Cassidy and Whitney Untiedt, attorney at Freidin Brown P.A., as Co-Program Directors for NITA’s “Building Trial Skills: Florida” course to be held in March 2020 at Nova Southeastern College of Law.
This past March, Nova Law professor Mark Dobson announced his retirement from the course. Professor Dobson had previously led the course for the past 30 years. As Mark steps down from the director role, Whitney is eager to offer her leadership skills to the course’s attendees. Both Whitney and Jayme have taught with NITA for a number of years and have dedicated their time with NITA to a variety of programs, public, in-house, and public service.
Whitney became a NITA Next Generation Faculty member in 2010, after having begun teaching with NITA just two years prior. She currently is an important part of the Freidin Brown, P.A. trial team, where she leads the firm’s national Whistleblower and Qui Tam practice. Whitney earned a spot in NITA’s 200+ Volunteer Hour Club in 2018 with the many hours she served as faculty member for both public and public service programs. On becoming Co-Program Director for 2020, Whitney stated, “I am honored to take on a leadership role in continuing the excellence of NITA’s Florida Trial Skills program. The program’s immersive learning-by-doing system is unmatched – we break down each skill to its core through practice and performance, then push participants to explore different layers of nuance and complexity to find their most effective voice in the courtroom. Culminating in a full jury trial experience, the week-long program is both exhausting and invigorating – and guaranteed to enhance a trial lawyer’s practice. Jayme Cassidy and I will be joined by a diverse and experienced faculty team with one common goal: providing a supportive environment where lawyers can stretch their imaginations and boost their advocacy skills to the next level.”
