ORLANDO — An Orlando property owner is suing a licensed insurer, alleging denial of coverage.

Jose Mejia filed a complaint Feb. 11 in Orange County Circuit Court against Heritage Property & Casualty Insurance Company, alleging refusal to pay a reasonable amount of the plaintiff's property loss.

According to the complaint, during the policy period, Mejia's residence at 1623 Golden Poppy Court, Orlando, was damaged. Mejia says he has complied with all conditions in filing a claim and was assigned a loss claim number but has yet to receive any payments.

The plaintiff alleges Heritage Property & Casualty Insurance has refused and continues to refuse to pay Mejia's claim in full or any part thereof.

Mejia seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees, plus all other just and proper relief. He is represented by attorney Peter Mineo Jr. of The Mineo Salcedo Law Firm PA in Davie.
