ORLANDO — A visitor is suing Orlando property owners, alleging negligence caused the plaintiff to fall on a slippery staircase.

Yvette Gonzalez filed a complaint Jan. 29 in Orange County Circuit Court against Dockside at Ventura Condominium Association Inc., KW Property Management LLC, doing business as KW Property Management & Consulting, alleging the defendants allowed the floor around a stairwell to be slippery.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 6, 2019, Gonzalez was a business invitee on the premises at 2536 Woodgate Blvd., Orlando, that was controlled and maintained by defendants. The suit says Gonzalez fell on a wet and/or otherwise unreasonably slippery staircase, which was in an area designated for pedestrian traffic.

As a result, Gonzalez says she sustained physical injuries, aggravation of a pre-existing physical condition and medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition for use by Gonzalez and others similarly situated and failed to warn the plaintiff of the existence of a dangerous condition.

Gonzalez seeks trial by jury, judgment in excess of $15,000, exclusive of interest, and court costs. She is represented by attorney Enc S. Gillin of Gillin, Gillin & Lindbaek PA in Melbourne.
