ORLANDO — An Orlando woman is suing Wal-Mart, alleging negligence and premises liability led to the plaintiff falling and sustaining injuries.
Collette Hairston filed a complaint Dec. 31, 2018, in Orange County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc,. alleging failure to maintain its store premises in a reasonably safe condition.
According to the complaint, on July 14, 2015, Hairston was lawfully on the Wal-Mart store premises, 3838 S. Semoran Blvd., Orlando, when she slipped on a transitory substance on the floor. The suit says Hairston sustained severe bodily injuries, resulting in pain, mental anguish, medical expenses and lost wages.
The plaintiff alleges Wal-Mart Stores failed to inspect the cleanliness of the floor to ascertain whether the transitory substance on the floor constituted a hazard and failed to warn Hairston of the danger. .
Hairston seeks trial by jury, damages that exceeds $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney R. Samuel Dunaway III of Dan Newlin & Partners in Orlando.
