CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing a Tennessee driver, alleging negligence caused a crash in St. Petersburg that injured the plaintiff.

Adrianna Newsome filed a complaint Dec. 21 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Kendra L. Wilkerson of Wilson County, Tennessee, alleging the defendant was negligently looking at her cell phone while driving.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 10, 2017, Newsome was involved in an automobile collision at the intersection of 34th Street South and 22nd Avenue South in St. Petersburg. The suit says Wilkerson, who was using her cell phone at the time of the collision, did not stop her vehicle before the intersection and collided with the rear of Newsome's vehicle.

Newsome says she sustained severe bodily injuries, resulting in pain and suffering of both a physical and mental nature, disability, disfigurement and loss of ability to earn an income. The plaintiff alleges Wilkerson operated her vehicle in a willful, wanton, reckless and negligent manner.

Newsome seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000 and all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorney Anthony C. Ekonomides of Law Office of Travis J. McConnell in St. Petersburg.
