Customer alleges Chick-fil-A negligence caused injuries

CLEARWATER — A customer is suing Chick-fil-A, alleging negligence led to injuries to the plaintiff.

Shirley Scheer filed a complaint Dec. 4 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Chick-fil-A, alleging, failure to maintain its restaurant in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 28, Scheer was a business invitee of Chick-fil-A at 10075 Ulmerton Road in Largo. The suit says she slipped and fell on a wet substance on the Chick-fil-A floor, leading to injuries in and about her body and extremities. 

Scheer says suffered loss of earnings, mental anguish and physical handicap. The plaintiff alleges Chick-fil-A carelessly maintained its restaurant premises by allowing a foreign substance to exist on the surface of the floor and failed to warn Scheer of any existing dangers or hazards.

Scheer seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Tomas L. Gacio of Abrahamson & Uiterwyk in Tampa.
