CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County man is suing Tarpon Springs restaurant operators, alleging negligence led to an assault from a bouncer.

Jeffrey Grabowski filed a complaint Dec. 4 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Opa Greek Cafe Inc. and Hussein Mahmoud Rafraf, alleging failure to provide safe and sufficient security services.

According to the complaint, on March 9, Grabowski was lawfully attempting to access the Opa Greek Café bar in Tarpon Springs. Grabowski says his path was barred by Raraf, the bar's bouncer, who then forcefully struck Grabowski, causing the plaintiff to fall and injure his head.

Grabowski says was taken to the hospital for emergency medical services and treatment. The plaintiff alleges Opa Greek Cafe and Rafraf prohibited him from entering the bar, forcefully blocked him and struck him, causing Grabowski to strike his head on the bar's premises.

Grabowski seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, with interest, costs, attorney fees and any other just and proper relief. He is represented by attorneys Ian R. Leavengood and Michael J. Boyle of LeavenLaw in St. Petersburg.
