CLEARWATER — A St. Petersburg tenant is suing a debt collector, alleging unfair, deceptive, and abusive practices.
Latrish Sharp filed a complaint Nov. 27 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Wendy Thun, alleging violation of the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.
According to the complaint, on Aug. 17, 2016, Sharp entered into a residential lease agreement with Thun to personally reside at the real property at 1400 Gandy Blvd., unit 1113 in St. Petersburg. As a result of the defendant's wrongful conduct, the suit says, Sharp has been abused and harassed and was obligated to pay attorney fees in pursuing this legal action.
The plaintiff alleges Thun used profane, obscene, vulgar and abusive language and threatened Sharp with the use of force in her attempts to collect an alleged debt.
Sharp seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000, attorney fees and costs, plus all other just and proper relief. She is represented by attorneys Aaron M. Swift and Jordan T. Isringhaus of Swift & Isringhaus PA in St. Petersburg.
