ORLANDO — A Maryland woman is suing Universal Studios, alleging negligence caused injuries to the plaintiff.

Cathy Williams of Westminster, Maryland, filed a complaint Nov. 8 in Orange County Circuit Court against Universal City Development Partners Ltd., doing business as Universal Studios, alleging failure to exercise reasonable care for the safety of its invitees.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 24, Williams was caused to trip on an artificial tree root in an area leading to the E.T adventure ride at Universal Studios. She says she sustained bodily injuries, resulting in pain and suffering, medical expenses, scarring, mental anguish and loss of earnings.

The plaintiff alleges Universal Studios failed to maintain adequate lighting on the surface of the walkway and failed to adequately warn its invitee of the danger of the inadequately lit line.

Williams seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Varun Ramnarine of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
