ORLANDO — Property owners are suing Southern Fidelity Insurance Company, a licensed insurer, citing alleged denial of coverage.

Victor Hugo Herrera Arteaga and Erika Ortiz filed a complaint on Nov. 8 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida-Orange County against Southern Fidelity Insurance Company alleging that the licensed insurer refused to pay reasonable amount to plaintiff's loss.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Victor Hugo Herrera Arteaga and Erika Ortiz's residence and personal property located at 147 Laurel Ridge Avenue in Ocoee suffered a covered loss. At the time of the loss the insurance policy issued by defendant was in full force and effect. The plaintiffs holds Southern Fidelity Insurance Company responsible because the defendant allegedly refused and continues to refuse to pay all or any part of plaintiff's claim.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, costs and attorney's fees and such other relief that is proper and just. They are represented by Peter Mineo Jr. of The Mineo Salcedo Law Firm PA in Davie.
