ORLANDO — A Pasco County woman is suing Universal Orlando Resort, alleging negligence caused part of a sidewalk to collapse.
Jessica Mattox Wilson filed a complaint Oct. 29 in Orange County Circuit Court against Universal City Development Partners Ltd., doing business as Universal Orlando Resort, alleging the event organizer failed to keep its premises in a reasonably safe condition.
According to the complaint, on Oct. 31, 2014, Wilson was attending Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando Resort when the steel tree grate portion of the sidewalk she was stepping on collapsed. The suit says Wilson sustained severe, extensive, and permanent bodily injuries, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, and expenses for hospitalization, medical, nursing, physical therapy care and treatment.
The plaintiff alleges Universal Orlando Resort failed to provide a safe place for its invitees and failed to warn the plaintiff and others of the unsafe, defective and dangerous condition.
Wilson seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees and such other just and proper relief. The plaintiff is representing herself.
