CLEARWATER — A customer is suing General Motors, alleging failure to adequately repair the defects in the plaintiff's vehicle.

Towanda Marie Tinney filed a complaint Oct. 17 in the Pinellas Circuit Court against General Motors LLC, alleging violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 16, 2013, Tinney purchased from a Pinellas County dealership a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic, manufactured and distributed by GM for approximately $16,455. Shortly after taking possession of the Sonic, Tinney says, she experienced various defects with the vehicle that substantially impaired its use, value and safety.

The plaintiff says she has been and will continue to be financially damaged. The plaintiff alleges General Motors, despite repairing the vehicle for the same defect, the defect remains uncorrected.

Tinney seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorney Nicholas Lacina of Krohn & Moss Ltd. in Chicago.
