Winter Garden homeowners allege insurance company failed to cover hurricane damage

ORLANDO — Two Orlando homeowners are suing a licensed insurer, alleging breach of an insurance contract.

James Oreluk and Gayle Oreluk filed a complaint Oct. 12 in Orange County Circuit Court against Fednat Insurance Company, formerly known as Federal National Insurance Company, alleging failure to perform under the terms of the policy.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, the Oreluk insured property at15635 Braintree Lane, Winter Garden, was damaged by Hurricane Irma. The plaintiffs say they timely notified Fednat with a full and particular account of their expenses and losses as a result of the hurricane. 

The plaintiffs allege Fednat Insurance has failed to pay the requested amounts pursuant to the terms of the policy.

The Oreluks seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees, plus all just and proper relief. They are represented by attorney Thomas J. Morgan Jr. of Morgan Law Group PA in Coral Gables.
