CLEARWATER — A property owner is suing Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, a liability insurer, citing alleged breach of insurance contract.

Angelique Williams filed a complaint on Sept. 20 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Citizens Property Insurance Corporation alleging that the liability insurer failed and refused to admit coverage for plaintiff's losses.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 31, 2017, her property located at 1655 66th Avenue in St. Petersburg was damaged due to a covered peril. Plaintiff applied for insurance benefits under the policy provided by defendant but was unsuccessful in receiving the benefits. The plaintiff holds Citizens Property Insurance Corporation responsible because the defendant allegedly failed and refused to pay the benefits to which she is entitled.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of prejudgment interest, attorneys’ fees, costs and such other just and reasonable relief. She is represented by Dean Makris and Matthew K. Mullinax, of Makris & Mullinax, PA in New Port Richey.
