ORLANDO — A Seminole County man is suing a Venice property owners association, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.
Steve Strickland filed a complaint Sept. 6 in Orange County Circuit Court against Stonecastle at Southwood Property Owners Association Inc., alleging failure to exercise reasonable care to keep the premises safe.
According to the complaint, on March 16, 2015, Strickland was collecting the trash at the defendant's property in Venice. While walking in a grassy area, the suit says, Strickland's foot fell into a hole covered with grass, causing him to fall.
Strickland says he sustained bodily injuries resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity to enjoy life, expenses for hospitalization and medical treatment. The plaintiff alleges Stonecastle at Southwood Property Owners Association failed to inspect the condition of the land and to provide such warning of any dangerous condition.
Strickland seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. He is represented by attorney Amanda Anderson Bright of Fenderson Law Firm in Delray Beach.
