CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County pedestrian is suing Largo, alleging breach of duty and negligence in causing injuries to the plaintiff.

Edwin Ballman filed a complaint Aug. 9 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against the city of Largo, alleging failure to maintain a city  premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 14, 2017, Ballman was walking on a Largo pedestrian walkway, 1563 Simmons Drive, Largo. The suit says Ballman tripped and fell on an unsafe, raised concrete patch or imperfection on the pedestrian walk.

As a result, Ballman says he suffered bodily injuries, causing pain, disability and the expense of hospitalization.

The plaintiff alleges the city of Largo failed to maintain its pedestrian walkways in a reasonably safe condition and failed to warn the public about an unsafe raised concrete patch.

Ballman seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus costs of the proceedings. He is represented by attorneys Ted Starr and Aaron Binns of Starr Law Offices PA in Pinellas Park.
