ORLANDO — An Orlando woman is suing a liability insurer, alleging breach of an insurance contract.

Lida Moya Becerra filed a complaint Aug. 8 in Orange County Circuit Court against Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company, alleging failure to pay the plaintiff’s loss according to the terms of the insurance contract.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, Becerra's property at 5128 Kempston Drive, Orlando, sustained damage as a result of Hurricane Irma. At the time of the loss, Becerra says her property was insured by Universal Property, for which she has claimed payment for the full value of the loss.

The plaintiff alleges Universal Property & Casualty Insurance has failed or refused to fully pay for all of Becerra's losses.

Becerra seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of interest, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney James J. Dye of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
