ORLANDO — An Orange County passenger is suing JetBlue, alleging negligence in injuring the plaintiff due to a hard landing.

Julie Rose Lagaipa filed a complaint Aug. 1 in Orange County Circuit Court against JetBlue Airways Corporation, alleging failure to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, on March 5, 2015 Lagaipa was a passenger on JetBlue flight 158 from Florida to JFK Airport in New York. The suit says the plane landed violently, causing Lagaipa to be thrown about.

The lawsuit states this led to Lagaipa sustaining serious injuries and resulting pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, and/or aggravation of a previous existing condition.

The plaintiff alleges JetBlue Airways failed to warn customers of the hazardous condition, and allowed the pilot to negligently operate the airplane.

Lagaipa seeks trial by jury, damages that exceed $15,000, exclusive of costs, interest and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Frank Gonzalez of Gonzalez & Garel PA in Miami.
