CLEARWATER — Two St. Pete Beach homeowners are suing general contractor, alleging negligence in the construction of the plaintiffs' home.

Tracy J. Harris Jr. and Carol Ann Harris filed a complaint July 27 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Alvarez Homes Inc., alleging the general contractor constructed a home with defects and deficiencies.

According to the complaint, in 2017 Tracy and Carol Ann Harris hired Alvarez Homes to construct their home on Aloha Drive, St. Pete Beach. However, the plaintiffs allege the constructed home contains defects and deficiencies, causing moisture to form inside the walls, cracked stucco and delaminating stucco with a high probability of rotted wood.

The plaintiffs allege Alvarez Homes failed to use good construction practices and failed to comply with state minimum building codes and industry standards when doing its work on the  home.

The Harrises seek trial by jury, damages, special damages, interest and costs, plus any other just and proper relief. They are represented by attorneys Robert S. Jones, Heath C. Murphy and Lee E. Tomlinson of Jones Law Group in St. Petersburg.
