FORT LAUDERDALE — A woman who claims she slipped and fell at a Hobby Lobby store is suing the retailer, as well as shopping mall owner Simon Property Group LP, Coral Springs Joint Venture and Washington Prime Group Inc.

Gina Clerie filed the complaint on July 18, in the Broward Circuit Court, alleging the defendants failed to follow safety guidelines and regulations that could have prevented her fall.

The plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 21, 2014, she was at Hobby Lobby, at 9100 Wiles Road, Coral Springs, Florida, when she slipped and fell on slick tiles or uneven flooring. The plaintiff claims that she fell in or around "an ingress or egress" to the store. She further maintains that the defendants are responsible for the premises, including the sidewalks.

She suffered injuries, pain, disability, humiliation, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, loss of earnings, and aggravation of a previously existing condition, according to the lawsuit.

The plaintiff holds Hobby Lobby Stores Inc., Simon Property Group LP, Coral Springs Joint Venture and Washington Prime Group Inc. responsible, because the defendants allegedly failed to keep the store safe or warn about the "dangerous condition," according to the lawsuit. She further alleges that the defendants failed to properly maintain and inspect the premises.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for damages, together with costs, interest, and further relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Lara S. Shiner of Shiner Law Group PA in Boca Raton.
