CLEARWATER — A mother is suing a Pinellas County health care facility operator, alleging nursing negligence.

Latajai Dunbar, as parent and natural guardian of Layla Nelson, a minor, filed a complaint July 9 in Pinellas Circuit Court against John Hopkins All Children's Hospital Inc., alleging failure provide pediatric care services within the prevailing professional standards of care.

According to the complaint, on Feb. 20, 2017, Layla, who had been born five days earlier, was admitted as a patient at the defendant's facility. As a result of defendant's negligence, the suit says, Layla sustained grievous bodily injuries, resulting in pain and suffering, impairment, disability, inconvenience and medical expenses.
