ORLANDO — An estate's personal representative is suing G4S Secure Solutions USA Inc., a security service provider, citing alleged breach of duty and negligence.
Natalie Logan, personal representative of the estate of Akyra Murray, deceased, filed a complaint on June 11 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida-Orange County against G4S Secure Solutions USA Inc. alleging that the security-service provider failed to determine its employees’ fitness to carry firearms in the course of their duties.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 12, 2016, Akyra Murray was shot dead at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando by defendant's employee Omar Mateen, who entered the nightclub heavily armed with a 9mm Glock 17 semiautomatic pistol, a SIG Sauer MCX semi-automatic rifle and over 200 rounds of ammunition. The plaintiff holds G4S Secure Solutions USA Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to administer a psychological examination to its employees before employing and training them as armed security guards.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for compensatory damages and taxable costs against defendant. She is represented by John F. Romano of Romano Law Group in Lake Worth.
