CLEARWATER – A Pinellas County consumer alleges a debt collector unlawfully contacted her.

Kristen Tompkins filed a complaint on May 29 in the 6th Judicial Circuit of Florida - Pinellas County against Sheridan Healthcorp Inc., alleging violation of the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 11, 2017, she received a statement from the defendant that demanded an alleged debt payment in the amount of $1,139.75 from medical expenses for injuries sustained in an auto accident. She alleges she advised the defendant that she is represented by an attorney in the matter but the defendant continued to contact her.

The plaintiff holds Sheridan Healthcorp Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly knowingly violated the FCCPA by direct communication to her about the debt collection.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $15,000, exclusive of court costs, interest, attorney's fees, and all such further relief deemed necessary and appropriate. She is represented by Gus M. Centrome, Brian L. Shrader and Alexander D. Licznerski of Tolicus Law PLLC in Tampa.
