CLEARWATER — A Florida widow is suing Pinellas County health care providers, alleging negligence resulting in the wrongful death of her husband.

Robyn Staton, as personal representative of Richard E. Staton, filed a complaint May 3 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Dr. Aldo Ruffolo, Radiology Physician Solutions of West Florida LLC and Northside Hospital, alleging they breached their duty in the care and treatment of her husband resulting in wrongful death.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 26, 2016, Robyn Staton's husband, Richard E. Staton died while a patient of the defendants. Robyn Staton says her husband had complied with all the tests, a CT angiogram and had provided updated medical history. However, the suit says, her husband still died.

As a result, the family says it has suffered pain, mental anguish and loss of support, plus substantial medical, hospital and funeral expenses.

Robyn Staton seeks trial by jury, damages exceeding $15,000, excluding costs, interest, attorney fees, and all other relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by attorneys Arthur B. Skafidas and Christopher P. Jayson of Jayson, Farthing, Skafidas & Wright PA in Tampa.
