CLEARWATER — Two Pinellas County homeowners are suing an insurance company, alleging refusal to apply payments for hurricane damage.
Otoniel Perez and Olga Perez filed a complaint May 4 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, alleging failure to pay insurance coverage that is due and owing.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 10, 2017, the Perez home in Pinellas County suffered severe damages from hurricane Irma while their insurance policy was full force and effect. The plaintiffs say they have duly notified Citizens Property about the loss and have complied with the terms, conditions and provisions of the policy required as a prerequisite to recover the losses.
However, the plaintiffs allege Citizens Property Insurance has failed and refuses to pay the full amount of the policy which is due and owing.
Otoniel Perez and Olga Perez seek trial by jury, all damages, interests at the maximum lawful rate with reasonable attorney fees, court costs and all other just and proper relief. They are represented by attorney Richard J. Brenner of Boca Raton.
