Patient accuses orthopedic surgeons of negligence

Medical malpractice 08

ORLANDO — An Orange County woman is suing health care providers, alleging their negligence led to suffering for the plaintiff.

Catherine D. Jones filed a complaint March 30 in Orange County Circuit Court against Dr. Joseph C. Flynn Jr. Dr. Geoffrey Stewart, both orthopedic surgeons, and The Spine and Scoliosis Center PA, alleging failure to exercise standard care and skill required of medical providers.

According to the complaint, Jones has sustained neurological deficits, endured pain and suffering, disability, lost wages and incurred medical expenses as a result of the defendants' negligence in their care and treatment of plaintiff regarding a failed fusion and decompression.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to give her a complete examination and failed to adequately perform the surgical procedure.

Jones seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, exclusive of attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attorneys Paul Perkins of Paul & Perkins in Maitland and by J. Clancey Bounds of Bounds Law Group in Maitland.
