Zellwood homeowners allege insurer failed to cover hurricane damage

Insurance 02

ORLANDO — Two Zellwood homeowners are suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

Jon and Kimberly Klass filed a complaint Feb. 26 in Orange County Circuit Court against American Traditions Insurance Company, alleging failure to cover damage caused by a hurricane.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 11, 2017, while the Klasses'' policy was in full force and effect, their property at 4212 Oak Grove Drive, Zellwood, sustained substantial damages caused by Hurricane Irma. However, the suit says, the defendant has failed to pay the full benefits due and owing to the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs allege American Traditions Insurance failed to pay them the full benefits due and owing for the covered losses, and obligated the Klasses to hire counsel to prosecute legal action.

Jon Klass and Kimberly Klass seek trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus attorney fees, court costs and prejudgment interest. They are represented by attorneys Jay M. Arnesen and Paris R. Webb of Arnesen Webb PA in Boca Raton.
