CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing the local transit authority, alleging negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Veronica Harrington filed a complaint Feb. 14 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, alleging failure to maintain its premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 16, 2017, Harrington was at Grand Central Station in St. Petersburg. The suit says an unsafe bench support bar sticking out of the ground in the transit center's common area caused Harrington to trip and fall violently to the ground.

The suit says Harrington sustained bodily injuries, resulting pain and suffering, physical and emotional injuries, disability, disfigurement, medical expenses and aggravation of a previous existing condition.

The plaintiff alleges Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority failed to warn and protect customers of the dangers caused by the removal of its benches, and failed to maintain and provide a reasonably safe premises for invitees.

Harrington seeks trial by jury, judgment in excess of $15,000, plus costs of the proceedings. She is represented by attorneys Ted Starr and Aaron Binns of Starr Law Offices PA in Pinellas Park.
