Policy holder accuses insurance agent of negligence

Insurance 06

CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing a licensed insurance agent, alleging negligence.

Ann Miller, doing business as Image Salon, filed a complaint Feb. 14 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Kenn Bonde, alleging the defendant failed to provide her with the proper insurance coverage.

According to the complaint, on July 31, 2017, Miller's Image Salon experienced damages from an infusion of water that was flooding into her business. The suit says Miller suffered monetary injury as a result of the insurance company, recommended by Bonde, refusing to provide coverage to the plaintiff's property.

The plaintiff alleges Bonde failed to use reasonable skill and diligence to procure the insurance coverage that Miller had requested, and failed to inform Miller that the insurer he had recommended specifically excluded water leakage.

Miller seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000, plus prejudgment interest, reimbursement of taxable costs, and all further relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorney Charles W. Gerdes of Keane, Reese, Vesely & Gerdes PA in St. Petersburg.
