CLEARWATER — A Pinellas County woman is suing a telephone service company, alleging breach of duty and negligence led to injuries.
Christine Lawson filed a complaint Jan. 8 in Pinellas County Circuit Court against Frontier Florida LLC, formerly known as Verizon Florida LLC, alleging the defendant breached its duty to use reasonable care in the installation of its wires and cables.
According to the complaint, on March 11, 2015, Lawson tripped and fell over a cable wire that was running along the property she was residing at 314 Woodrow Ave., Largo. Lawson says the defendant did not fully bury the cable wires and left them exposed as a potential tripping hazard to those walking on the premises.
As a result, Lawson says she sustained bodily injury, suffered disability, mental anguish and the expense of hospitalization.
The plaintiff alleges Frontier Florida failed to install cable wires in a reasonably safe manner, failed to inspect and maintain its cable wires to prevent them from becoming exposed and presenting a tripping hazard and failed to warn of the latent dangers of the cable wires.
Lawson seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000 and all other relief the court deems proper. She is represented by attorney Jimmie Butler of Baras, Nunez, Sanders, Butler & Hovsepian in Tampa.
