Customer blames Clearwater restaurant owner for injuries

Slip01

CLEARWATER — A customer is suing a Clearwater restaurant owner, alleging negligence led to the plaintiff suffering injuries.

Dawn Mechem filed a complaint Dec. 28 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Nauti Nancy's Inc., doing business as Nauti Nancy's Restaurant, alleging failure to maintain its premises in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 17, 2016, Mechem was at Nauti Nancy's Restaurant, 700 Eldridge St., Clearwater. The suit says while Mechem was on the defendant's property, she tripped and fell.

Mechem says she sustained bodily injuries and resulting pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, incurred medical expenses, loss of earnings and aggravation of a previous existing condition. The lawsuit states this was the result of Nauti Nancy's negligence in allowing a slippery, uneven and defective floor.

The plaintiff alleges Nauti Nancy's Restaurant failed to properly keep the customer walkways from negligent harm, failed to properly supervise its employees and contractors in the proper maintenance of its premises and failed to warn Mechem of the dangerous premises.

Mechem seeks trial by jury, damages in excess of $15,000 and court costs. She is represented by attorney Neal J. Gambler II of Farah & Farah PA in Gainesville.
