CLEARWATER — An executor is suing a St. Petersburg nursing home, alleging negligence, and wrongful death.

Terena Pellasce, as executor for the late Sandra Western, filed a complaint Dec. 28 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Suncoast Manor Retirement Community Inc., doing business as Westminster Suncoast and Westminster Services Inc., alleging they failed to exercise standard care and skill required of a nursing home.

According to the complaint, on July 7, 2017, Western suffered bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, aggravation of a previously existing condition, and eventually her death. The suit says this resulted from the defendants' negligent acts in the care and treatment of Western.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to properly hire, retain and supervise staff in their care of Western and failed to protect her from foreseeable harm.

Pellasce seeks trial by jury, general and special damages, costs, and all further relief the court deems appropriate. She is represented by attorney Brian L. Thompson of Morgan & Morgan Tampa PA in St. Petersburg.
