Orlando property owners accuse construction company of negligence

ORLANDO — Two Orlando property owners are suing a construction company, citing alleged negligence and vicarious liability.

Alfred Sims and Rosa Castro filed a complaint Dec. 1 in Orange County Circuit Court against M/I Homes of Orlando LLC alleging the defendant failed to provide a safe and secure environment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs have been damaged in that defects and violations have substantially reduced the value of their home at 12627 Iris Lake Drive, Orlando. The suit says the property requires significant repairs and renovations to correct the defects and violations caused by the defendant.

The plaintiffs allege M/I Homes of Orlando failed to comply with the Florida Building Code when constructing the plaintiffs' home and failed to adhere to industry standards.

Sims and Castro seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, plus interest, court costs and all further relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorney Matthew L. Wilson of Burnett Wilson Reeder in Tampa.
