ORLANDO — A Daytona Beach woman is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.
Sylvia Lopez filed a complaint Dec. 1 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, alleging failure to cover damages caused by a hurricane.
According to the complaint, on Sept. 11, Lopez's home at 909 Wells Drive, Daytona Beach sustained water damage and a fallen tree as a result of Hurricane Irma. Although Lopez says she timely notified Security First of the covered loss, the defendant has refused to provide insurance benefits necessary to repair the plaintiff's home or replace the damaged contents.
The plaintiff alleges Security First Insurance has failed and refuses to fully pay benefits necessary to repair her home and all the damaged contents therein, and has required Lopez to pay for legal services to protect her interests.
Lopez seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, interest, attorney fees, court costs and all other relief the court deems appropriate. She is represented by attorney James J. Dye of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
