ORLANDO — Two Orlando property owners are suing a general contractor, alleging negligence and vicarious liability.

Sebastian Oyegun II and Tashara Oyegun II filed a complaint Dec. 1 in Orange County Circuit Court against M/I Homes of Orlando LLC, alleging the general contractor failed to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.

According to the complaint, the Oyeguns have been damaged due to defects and violations that have substantially reduced the value of their home at 12561 Iris Lake Drive, Orlando. The suit says the home required significant repairs and renovations to correct the defects and violations as a result of M/I Homes' negligence in its hiring of subcontractors in the construction of the plaintiffs' home.

The plaintiffs allege M/I Homes of Orlando failed to comply with all applicable local, state and national building codes and regulations, failed its duty to exercise reasonable care and skills in the construction of the Oyegun home.

The Oyeguns seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, plus interest, court costs and all further relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorney Matthew L. Wilson of Burnett Wilson Reeder in Tampa.
