Motorist blames another driver for causing collision

CLEARWATER — A St. Petersburg man is suing a Pinellas County motorist, alleging her negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Roberto Noel Alicea filed a complaint Nov. 27 in Pinellas Circuit Court against Penny Elizabeth Godden, alleging she failed to exercise standard care and skill required in operating a vehicle.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 9, 2016, Alicea was driving in Pinellas County when he was struck by a vehicle negligently driven by Godden. The suit says Alicea suffered bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, disability, inconvenience, aggravation of a pre-existing condition, mental anguish, loss of earnings, and incurred medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges Godden failed to adequately maintain and operate a motor vehicle so as not to cause harm, and failed to be on a proper lookout for other vehicles.

Alicea seeks trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, court costs, prejudgment interest and all other relief the court deems appropriate. He is represented by attorney Alina M. Morros of Fiol Law Group PA in Tampa.
