ORLANDO — An Orlando couple is suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.
Oscar Herrera and Graciela Herrera filed a complaint Nov. 24 in Orange County Circuit Court against Security First Insurance Company, alleging the insurer failed to pay for hurricane damages.
According to the complaint, on Oct. 7, 2016, while the Herreras' insurance policy was in full force and effect, they suffered damages to their dwelling and other structures at 4223 Roy St., Orlando, as a result of Hurricane Matthew. The suit says the storm caused sudden and immediate physical damage to the insured property. As a result of the loss, the plaintiffs say they incurred damages of $33,357.79, that Security First refused to pay.
The plaintiffs allege Security First has refused to honor its contractual obligations, and refused to make full payment for all covered damages.
The Herreras seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, prejudgment interest, attorney fees and court costs. They are represented by attorney Daniel T. Galo of Ligman Martin PL in Wellington, Florida.
