Orlando couple alleges insurance company failed to cover water damage

Insurance 11

ORLANDO — Orlando property owners are suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

Tahir Munir and Shagufta Khanum filed a complaint Nov. 28 in Orange County Circuit Court against Avatar Property and Casualty Insurance Company, alleging failure to pay for a covered loss.

According to the complaint, on May 24, while the insurance was in full force and effect, the plaintiffs' insured property at 1308 Epson Oaks Way, Orlando, suffered damages due to wind and water. The suit says water overflowed into the Orlando house.

The plaintiffs allege Avatar Property and Casualty has failed to honor its contractual obligation by not paying the full benefits under the policy.

Munior and Khanum seek trial by jury, damages of more than $15,000, interest, court costs, attorney fees and all other appropriate relief. They are represented by attorney Brandon W. Arrow of Florida Professional Law Group, PLLC in Hollywood.
