Injured worker alleges unlawful termination

Wrongful term 10

ORLANDO — An Orange County man is suing a Maitland company, alleging violation of workers compensation acts.

Oscar Moquette filed a complaint Nov. 28 in Orange County Circuit Court against Skansa-Granite-Lane, alleging violation of the Florida Workers' Compensation Law.

According to the complaint, on July 14, Moquette sustained injuries while working for Skansa-Granite-Lane on an Orange County job site and subsequently filed a claim for workers' compensation benefits. The suit says Moquette was terminated July 18, causing him to suffer damages including lost wages, loss of employment, mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life.

The plaintiff alleges Skansa-Granite-Lane retaliated against him and terminated his employment for seeking worker's compensation benefits.

Moquette seeks trial by jury and damages of more than $15,000. He is represented by attorneys Jesse Rowe of Van Dingenen Law in Winter Park, and by Christopher Turner of Orlando.
