Orlando homeowners allege insurance company failed to cover hurricane damages

Insurance 06

ORLANDO — Two Orlando homeowners are suing an insurance company, alleging breach of contract.

Carrolyn Rochester and Sophia Jamieson filed a complaint Nov. 15 in Orange County Circuit Court against St. Johns Insurance Company Inc. alleging the insurer breached good faith and fair dealing in failing to cover insured damages.

According to the complaint,  on Oct. 7, 2016, Rochester and Jamieson suffered covered losses caused at least in part by a hurricane at 8309 Snowfire Drive, Orlando. Although the plaintiffs say they have complied with and performed all conditions precedent to recover under the policy, St. John's has refused pay for all of the plaintiffs’ property loss and damages that are covered under the St. John's insurance policy.

The plaintiffs allege St. Johns Insurance failed to comply with its contractual obligations, and failed to properly adjust the loss and distribute the proceeds to return the property to its pre-loss condition.

Rochester and Jamieson seek trial by jury, declaratory relief, attorney fees and court costs, and all further relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorney Jonathan Korin of Korin Law PA in Miami Lakes.
