ORLANDO — An Orlando couple is suing a local pool company and owner, alleging negligence, loss of consortium and vicarious liability.
William Goforth and Sharon Goforth filed a complaint Oct. 30 in Orange Circuit Court against Orlando Pools By Design Inc. and Matt Szafram, alleging they failed to follow applicable safety guidelines and regulations.
According to the complaint, on May 5, 2016, when the defendants were doing work on the Goforth property in Orlando, William Goforth tripped over a wire that had been improperly buried. As a result of the negligence of an agent of Orlando Pools By Design, Goforth sustained a serious injury to his right knee, disability, disfigurement and mental anguish, while his wife suffered the loss of her husband's service, companionship and consortium.
The plaintiffs allege the defendants failed to bury the cable sufficiently deep, failed to inspect the area where the wire was buried and failed to warn the plaintiffs or place warning signs to prevent accidents.
The Goforths seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages in excess of $15,000, plus interest and costs. They are represented by attorney Steven M. Meyers of Meyers & Stanley in Orlando.
